Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar yoga was developed from the pioneering work of B.K.S. Iyengar, who freed up the classical asanas (postures) of yoga from their Indian mystical character, and in addition, through the use of aids (props), made them suitable for people from the West, who seek to have a clear understanding of what is happening during the practice of an asana.
A typical Iyengar yoga class focuses on the precision and detail of movements, on the correct alignment of the asanas, and on the study of the activities and resistance of the muscles and mind needed to enter a state of self-concentration. Emphasis is placed on awareness of the breath in each asana, so that we deepen the experience.
Through regular practice, the student overcomes his physical and mental / emotional limits and develops deep body awareness, strength, control, patience, as well as physical and mental balance.
